Assume a virtue if you have it not.
Not unreasonable task to master.
In vernacular, not such a big ask,
when to others virtue is directed.

What if other is -self- disconnected?
Say to self, remember mind remember?
yet, forget, tyranny of mind, better
one pace back and see, witnesser be.

Agni

Heat and warmth for hearth and home;
light, bright illumination,
sparks firing imagination.
Lightening flashing electric force.

O Agni, source of light, heat, fire. .
flames dancing in wild delight,
embers ablaze carry message to gods;
moths know to sacrifice to light.

Fire ceremony, present witness,
making sacred that which it beholds.
Fire of heart, pain, inflame, purify.
And inner fire, very witness of soul.

PostPosted: Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:12 am    Post subject: Pooh and a Matter of Importance Reply with quote

It was early spring, mid-afternoon of a beautiful day and up in the
old oak tree, birds were singing in praise.

Pooh was walking hand in hand with CR in the Wood and he looked up
at his dear friend with great affection. CR smiled back and then
they both just laughed. Friends do.

Soon Pooh looked up at the old oak tree, listened to the birds, then said
'birds have wings don't they' (with friends it doesn't matter whether
it it a question or a statement)

'Yes Pooh'.
'That's how they fly, Pooh added.
'That's true, CR replied.

Then, excitedy, Pooh said 'I carried my book with me to show you somefing'
Somefing about a winged messenger of the gods. Look, he has wings on
his sandals!'

When confronted with a mystery or serious matter one stops in one's tracks.
So CR and Pooh sat down together on the springy grass and looked at the
drawing of wings on the sandals.

Slowly and thoughtfully CR said 'Dear Pooh, listen.. do'
'This is a matter of importance'

'a matter of what? of who?' queried Pooh.

'Some, very few, have so much light, they can simply take flight,
they soar far above me and you'

'Oh' mused Pooh 'like my kite that flew, when I let it go?'
'Something like that; quite right' CR enthused,
'but these messengers return with the nectar of the gods too!'

(now this made Pooh think of his hunny)
But when you share A Matter of Importance with a friend,
you no longer think of your tummy.

Both now felt light of heart, stood up and skipped along the path.
Pooh delighted in stomping on some twigs,
Christopher Robin, holding Pooh's book, just laughed,
The birds took flight, rejoicing in the light.

PostPosted: Sun Mar 28, 2010 6:18 am    Post subject: Unity Reply with quote

He spoke of Unity.
Well what do you mean
and where is it found?
He said, it’s all around.
…It is how it is seen.

It’s limitless, expansiveness,
encompassing, embracing all,
the grandest and everything small.
Where you’re looking from, that’s all.

Sun shines, doesn’t discriminate,
though clouds at times may eclipse;
Moon and stars take the night shift,
beam and gleam from afar.

‘I am here’…
the silky milky way whispers,
‘and also in the neighborhood
innumerable galaxies appear’.

We get here via a star perchance;
Cells they circulate, atoms dance
harmonizing, like plants, in time
to some eternal cosmic rhyme.

These majestic kaleidoscopes…
seen by telescope, microscope.
viewed from near and afar.
But how do I view, what’s my scope?

He said its revealed in your own eye,
it is where you are looking from...
that is how you will see,
that is where you will find Unity.

inside out poems.

upside down
and inside out
on the ferris wheel
on the merry go of life
with a hey and a ho.

slowly slowly to a stop
time now to be still
stand in awe
inspiration from Forum floor
and so many giants of yore.

after verse in R.P. Goldman

I seek and search
and cannot find.
Am I blind? Confused

Well no, there is
nought to be sought
nothing to be found

not here nor there
nor anywhere.
Seek somewhere, elsewhere?

No nothing to be
found anywhere
don't bother to go there.

The getting of wisdom,
there's no greater place
and nowhere else
than understanding yourSelf

Dear Cheryl,

your last poem brings to mind the wonderful poems of Rumi.

"In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art."

"The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.
They're in each other all along."

Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi.

Thank you for your reminder and your many beautiful contributions to the forum.

End of the month
Last of the light
Middle of the night
Start of the day.

Fire rekindled
Same appearance
Different view
Renewed delight.

Everchanging
Colours fading
Refreshed again
Explosion of light

Month beginning
Dawn of the day
I heard Him say
my name again.

Called; awake.
O stay, O stay!
Yes. Never did
I go away

Gossamer
wispy flower
floating light
wind dispersed
freedom found
gravitation
no limitation
taking flight
mostly space
merged in space
dancing light
sheer delight
nature's kite
colour of white
ethereal
magic mix
of sublime
and the real.
Steadfast thro'
the dark night.
Sheer, pure,
white, light.

In gown of greeness
swaying, shimmering
a most elegant dress.

Standing in stillness
silent witness o'night
branching out far and wide,
there nesting birds hide.

Birds of a feather flock
here together, notice
that, notice the tree
shoot the breeze together.

Jingle or jangle of bangles,
Joyous noise when you're dancing free.
What if bangles are really mangles,
chains that are binding the not so free?

Bound by rope or illusion of snake,
needs must awake, else where's the escape?
Learn to cope? Now is that a joke?
Shackles broken, then freedom to be.

Number one, the rule of the thumb,
see the chain, the key to be free.
Else, illusion or real, can seal your
fate, create a destiny of pain.

Slip sliding in the mossy pond,
struggle not, knowing help will come.
But stuck in mud, murky, sticky, rank,
better to walk proverbial plank!

Emerge as lotus triumphant,
nod to sol, beauty radiate.
Singing prancing freedom dancing
bells jingling, bangles enhancing.

Who is he
and who is he not?
Wealth from the journey he retains,
all baggage left on the train,
priceless wisdom here remains,
but all is never by him claimed.

His example is all,
his presence is so far reaching
touching those, as yet, unmet.
Speaks of love, sun, candles, cows;
he is wired for sacred sound
and the witness of all he's found.

Words at his finger's tip,
crystal eloquence, unrehearsed,
phrases of praise those gifts he gives
from within his smiling love.
Muse, herself in him reflected,
As one they dance in time and tune.

Has a coat of many colours,
multi-talented, outer robes
reflection of inner splendour
where vibrant light is purest white.
Who is he and who is he not?

from 'Ellam Ondre' Unity

You are in it, of it, u-n-ity
part of, not apart from, diversity
one and one-another
diverse not different
you, 'everlasting life of the whole',
love of one and one-another
the one and the same.
No greater love than to know
of the unifying flow
of love from one to all others
the one and the same
eternal unity, love's flame.
